Did You Know?
We have a full time customer service representative to answer your phone calls and see to your concerns. How is that important to you?
In smaller companies the owner is usually the estimator, scheduler, finance officer, color consultant, crew supervisor, and more—so answering your phone call and seeing to your concerns cannot be priorities. In fact, In an independent survey, 70 percent of respondents listed “unanswered phone calls” as first among their top 10 frustrations with painting companies. It is not that way with genesis. Should you not get our customer service representative on the line immediately, our policy is to return your call within 60 minutes during normal business hours.
We offer a number of ways to pay. How many?
Besides cash or your personal check for the full amount, you can use your Visa ®, MasterCard ®, American Express ®, or Discover ® card for convenience and to earn those “mileage” rewards. We also offer no payment, limited-term, interest free financing to qualified customers.
We do not require any advanced deposit or “down payment” before we begin work at your home or business. Why?
Stories are relatively rare about customers not paying their bill after a contractor satisfactorily completes work at their home or business. On the other hand, cases of contractors going out of business and disappearing after collecting a down payment are not so unusual.
So why should any painting contractor ask you to put money up front?
Since our beginnings in 1992, we’ve never asked our clients to advance any amount of money for materials or labor. After all, you’re trusting us with your home or business. Shouldn’t we demonstrate similar faith in you as a member of our community?
We’ll provide you a detailed proposal with a guaranteed price for the specified work—not an estimate. And we’ll unconditionally guarantee our materials and workmanship for three years—triple what’s usual throughout the industry.
It’s simply how we believe business should be conducted among people of good will.
We refuse to give estimates before we begin work. Say what?
We don’t give “estimates.” We make only price-guaranteed proposals with a detailed inventory of how your painting project will be accomplished. After that proposal is signed by you and our representative:
- You’ll have the opportunity to select all paint or stain colors before the work begins. You can do this entirely on your own, or you can seek advice from our staff color consultant for no additional charge. Our experts will suggest the best finishes and types of paint for your particular application. Samples can be applied to ensure the desired look.
- Your paints and materials will be ordered. We only supply premium grade, name brand paints, many of which have lifetime guarantees1. We do this at no net profit, which gives you the added advantage of our quantity discounts and makes our project pricing extremely competitive.
- We’ll follow all laws and best practices involving the removal of lead-based paint. Genesis is a certified lead-safe renovator2. The older your home or building relative to 1978, the greater the chances that lead-based paint is present.
- Our Quality Control Supervisor will inspect all work daily. He’ll examine the work using a standard protocol with specific emphases on worksite order and cleanliness. When work is complete, he’ll lead you through a walkthrough inspection to ascertain your complete satisfaction. Any concerns you have will be promptly rectified or otherwise addressed.
1Typically hallman/lindsay or Sherwin-Williams. We can instead use paints and stains sourced by you. However, solely dependent on our judgment of their quality and warranty, this might limit our guarantee of the work.

Genesis Painting offers free color consultation for your interior or exterior painting project. How is this important to you?
Many people don’t have an “eye” for color and so are leery about specifying unique and varying hues in the same room. After all, a painting project is a significant investment. So they “play it safe” and in too many instances wind up with four pale walls that fail to emphasize the unique dimensions, features, or furniture within a living or commercial space. And that’s a shame, because “playing it safe” with color can mean that you’re not extracting as much value from your painting project as there is to be had. After all, a painting project should be a cause for celebration—not trepidation.
This isn’t your problem with Genesis painting!
When you sign a contract with us you’ll be automatically entitled to a free onsite color consultation with an experienced color consultant—a professional artist—who’ll bring a portfolio of before-and-after photographs that demonstrate how an attractive space can be transformed into an eye-popping one by the intelligent application of color.
Hiring the same contractor to repaint your interior who painted it when it was new might not be a good idea—especially for your business. Wonder how?
Repainting an interior is a very different enterprise from having it painted for the first time. While this is wholly true for homes—it is doubly so for businesses. Consider:
Initially, there were no fixtures, furniture, or equipment to be covered, protected, and worked around. Floor coverings were not in place. There was no inventory that could be damaged—or stolen. And your employees, customers, and/or clients were not yet onsite to encounter the painting crew.
Also, the quality of the personnel who showed up at your yet-to-be opened site was not as crucial: how they dressed, how they acted, how they spoke to one another, and what they said went largely unseen—and so were not part of the incidental experience of visiting your facility.
Even their “skill sets” were not as crucial: painting large expanses of brand new wall space in a large empty site, unencumbered by trim does not require the same levels of care, preparation, protection, and craftsmanship as does repainting.
In sum, repainting requires much more care and craftsmanship than initial painting:
- Surfaces need proper preparation for new paint to adhere.
- Nail holes, cracks, and other imperfections must be repaired.
- Finished and carpeted floors need protection from paint and scuffs.
- Trim work is in place and must be carefully masked.
- Furniture, fixtures, and equipment need to be worked around, and protected from dust and paint.
- Work areas must be kept tidy from day-to-day so as not to interfere with your business
So hire an interior repainting specialist—especially for you business!
We do not make a net profit on paint—and neither do most Madison painting contractors. How is this important to you?
As most Madison painting contractors, we only mark up the materials we purchase on your behalf to the extent that it covers the cost of acquisition. So if a painting company quotes you a project price that is significantly lower, note that the difference probably lies in the quality of the personnel they will send to your home or business, and the amount of time they will allow them to get the job done. Thus, there is a hidden incentive to skimp on prep, get your “paint job” done as quickly as possible, and then move on to the next project. This puts your interests and theirs at polar opposites, which is not good for you, because time and workmanship are crucial for a good-looking long-lasting result.
We only use premium brand paints. How is this important to you?
We only use premium brand paints because their superior quality helps make possible our industry-leading three-year guarantee. While they are predictably more expensive than the “house brands” you’ll find at Big Box home remodeling centers, we’re able to purchase materials much more inexpensively than you can, in consideration of the large amount of business we do with our suppliers, and the fact that we do not seek a net profit on materials. So in sum, we can provide you with premium materials less expensively than you can purchase lesser-quality ones.
We 100 percent guarantee both our labor and materials for a full 3 years-triple the industry standard-whether interior or exterior, new paint or repaint, homeowner or commercial. How is this important to you?
After you choose Genesis as your Madison painter, we want our every move to confirm that you’ve made the very best choice. And one way we ensure your comfort and confidence is with our no-nonsense guarantee, which we believe is the best in the business:
We 100 percent guarantee both our labor and materials for a full 3 years—whether interior or exterior, new paint or repaint, homeowner or commercial.
Please compare that to almost all other Madison painting contractors, who typically offer only1-year guarantees—even for brand new work completed on surfaces that they themselves have prepped and painted for the first time.
But that’s only one reason why our guarantee is better than most anyone else’s. Consider: we’ve been a corporate citizen in Wisconsin since 1992. That means in the unlikely event you do need guarantee work completed by us down the road—we’ll be here, which is no small consolation in an industry where 25 percent of entrants go out of business in the first three years!
Since its founding in 1992, Genesis has become Madison’s largest painting company—and still the region’s fastest growing. How is this important to you?
Genesis has become Madison’s largest painting company by consistently using the best painting practices, techniques, and standards along with premium paints and materials; and employing well-compensated and motivated people who regard painting as a career—not an “odd job” or temporary “gig” until something else comes along.
No less important: we understand that you’re buying more than a “paint job” from us—or any other painting company in Madison Wisconsin, for that matter.
Instead, you’re purchasing a process that has a beginning and end—from the initial estimate, to the prep-work, to the actual painting, all the way through to the final walkthrough when we invite your final approval.
Each step of that process needs to be done expertly to achieve the best looking and longest-lasting results. And there are a host of intangibles—not least of which is whether you feel comfortable with the people we send to your home or business to do the work and mingle among your family or customers.
In sum, beyond the obvious benefits of using the best techniques, materials, and personnel, no less important is our commitment to provide friendly, punctual service—and to treat our customers the way we would like to be treated if our roles were reversed.
